1st Grade

On-Going:

.  Here are a few reminders to help your child get through first grade:
·      Make sure your child gets plenty of sleep and eats a good breakfast.
·      School starts promptly at 8:00.
·      Please do not double park or let your child run across the street.
·     Please send a note with the date and the reason for the absence.
·      You might want to send a healthy snack packed separately from their lunch for your child to eat at
      recess.

  • Please check your child’s backpack/folder every night to review schoolwork and read important flyers and bulletins.

·      Please read with your child every night.

            Thank you for your support of our school, PTA, and first grade program.  We look forward to meeting you and discussing our curriculum and classroom policies at Back To School Night on October 16th

2nd Grade

On-Going:

  • Review with your child telling time to the nearest quarter hour, minutes in an hour, days in a month, weeks in a year.
  • Count coins with your child.
  • Check your child’s backpack daily.
  • Write sick notes for your child when they are absent.
  • Continue to review with your child basic math facts.
  • Read every day.
  • Fluency-By this time in 2nd grade, good readers should be reading approximately 82 words per minute with fluency and expression. The only way to increase their fluency is through practice.
  • Write your child’s name on all their property.

            Please remember to bring your child to school on time every day.  We are trying to avoid excessive tardies as they limit the amount of learning that can take place in your classroom.  You can bring your child to school at 7:30 in the morning for supervised play and breakfast, if needed.
