Professional Development Goals

Objective:

The school will develop and implement ongoing professional training so that teachers will integrate computer technology into the curriculum that supports a strong literacy program.

1. Teachers and staff will receive training in basic computer literacy in order to enable students to master age appropriate computer skills and complete projects.

2. Teachers and staff will also be trained in grade level appropriate programs to help students design and publish multi-media projects (Newsletters, books, slide shows etc.) in order to accumulate and organize electronic portfolios for all students.

3. Teachers will also receive training in using computers for record keeping, electronic grade books, design and layout of support materials, and in internet access to do research for lesson planning.

4. Teachers and staff will receive training in basic troubleshooting in computers to help them become more comfortable with using technology and becoming self-proficient with their classroom multi-media centers and the computer lab.

5. Teachers and staff will be trained in internet access and e-mail use so that students can be taught and immersed in global communication. The districts AUP will be followed to create the safest environment possible.

6. Teachers and staff will collaborate within grade levels to develop and publish classroom web sites, conduct electronic research, and participate in video conferencing with classrooms around the world.
