Animal Report

Research For this project.

The Second Grade Animal Report is an assignment to gather facts, pictures, and other media about a specific animal and present information in a report.

All written work should be generated by the student and proper references should be made to where the information was acquired

Directions:

1. Students go to public or school library for a book about a type of animal they want to learn more about. Use the links in the 2nd Grade Research Arena to gather more information, pictures and/or sounds.

2. Students read the book and information and take notes about the animal's description, where it lives, lifestyle, and other important details. Look back here for a note taking worksheet.

3. Students write a report in paragraph form with a title, topic sentence, supporting details, and interesting facts about the animal. Include several drawings or pictures of the animals.

4. The report should include the following:

• title page with student's name, date and animal
• Information pages about the animal written by student in paragraph form
• pictures or drawings of the animal
• Bibliography page listing author, book title, publisher, city and year of publication

5. Optional - If the report is done on Microsoft Word or Powerpoint, pictures sounds and other media can be added. Save a copy of the report on a disk and it can be put on-line in the completed project section of this website. See Mr. Smith for more details
